A note from Andy

Will you actually use it in the summer?

Around this time of year, things tend to slow down a little for me.

Everyone who visits the showroom often has the same thought in the back of their mind…

Will I use a range cooker in the summer?

Won’t they make the kitchen too hot this time of year?

Now, I’ve answered the latter in an email not too long ago (the short answer is: you can switch it off or put it on the lowest setting and you won’t even notice a difference).

But I wanted to talk about the former…

Will you really use a range cooker in the summer?

I understand why people think it. You usually associate range cookers with slow cooking – stuff like casseroles, big Sunday roasts, hearty stews.

And those are the kind of meals you want while it’s freezing outside.

But honestly, some of the nicest things to cook in the summer are slow-cooked.

• A shoulder of lamb slow-cooked all afternoon.
• Ratatouille made with seasonal summer veg
• Herby tomato sauce bubbling away

None of it needs your attention, so you can be outside soaking up the sun.
And none of it will make your kitchen uncomfortable.

To give you an example, the Everhot is a range cooker, but it doesn’t behave like a normal oven.

A conventional oven blasts heat into the room every time it’s switched on. You feel it almost immediately.

An Everhot is much gentler and can be switched to an ECO mode that’s perfect for this time of year.

Most owners simply turn the cast-iron hotplate down a bit or use the induction hob more often for quicker, lighter cooking.

That’s one of the reasons people tend to become very attached to them over time – they’re more versatile than you’d imagine.

So if you’ve already got an Everhot, it might be worth experimenting with it a bit more this summer instead of changing your cooking habits completely…

And if you’re still not convinced a range cooker is right for the summer, I’d recommend seeing it in person before you reach the final verdict!
