The man who had a hand in capturing Joan of Arc and handing her to the English was also the man who established the foundry that became the home of the Lacanche cookers.

There's a bit of trivia for you!

Blogposts

That man was Phillip the Good, the Duke of Burgundy in the late 15th Century.

He chose the village of Lacanche for the foundry because of its abundance of iron and water. And to this day, Lacanche cookers are still built on that very same site.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves...

Over time, the village became a centre for metalworking. By the 19th century, as famous chefs like Marie-Antoine Careme and August Escoffier were revolutionising haute cuisine (which is typically associated with fine dining), the foundry in Lacanche was busy crafting elegant and efficient cooking equipment that would be found in kitchens across the world.

These cookers, steeped in such a rich history, still follow the same craftsmanship principles that were established centuries ago...

Every single Lacanche cooker is handcrafted with care, combining old-world techniques with modern innovation.

So, when you're cooking on a Lacanche, you're not just using an ordinary cooker, it's a piece of history.

I think it's why these cookers are so beloved by chefs and home cooks alike, not just in France, but all over the world.

There's nothing quite like experiencing the craftsmanship of a Lacanche up close. So, pop by the showroom anytime if you'd like to see one of these beauties in person.

Andy
