A note from Andy

Are you having this problem?

I've noticed a pattern in the showroom recently from people who own a very specific cooker…

Just last week, there was another couple who came in. They live on an old farmhouse just outside Thame, and they'd had an oil-fired AGA for years.

It had served them well, and they weren't looking to replace it because they'd fallen out of love with it.

It was everything around it that had become the problem.

The oil tank needed replacing…

The latest service bill wasn't exactly welcome…

And the last oil delivery had gone up in price… again!

So, to quote them, they said:

"We just want something we don't have to think about anymore."

That sentence has stuck with me because I hear different versions of it quite often.

These days, the cooker itself usually isn't the issue. It's everything that comes with it.

And I think that's why more and more people end up turning towards electric.

An Everhot or an electric ESSE removes all of those problems…

• No oil tank
• No flue
• No annual servicing

You just plug it in, and it gets on with it.

Now, that's not to say electric is automatically the right answer for everyone.

If your range cooker also heats your radiators and your hot water, that's a different conversation.

In those situations, something like an oil-fired Rayburn or Heritage may be the right choice.

It really depends on what job you need your cooker to do.

And that's something that's much easier to work out together than it is by reading brochures or comparing specifications online.

Every house is different, and every family uses their kitchen differently.

That's why I never try to steer people towards one particular brand…

I'd much rather help you find the one that fits your home.
